Thanks for reading! And it’s a dream of mine to wild swim in Scotland one day so I’m excited to read your stuff!

Definitely agree with the adage that day hikes are more dangerous due to more casual preparation!

Reflecting on my more harrowing experiences— on Mount Washington and Mount Carrigain in New Hampshire and Mount Rainer in Washington State things could have turned out very badly. Fortunately they did not.

Funny how a lot of our modern day adventures include “battery charge left on iPhone” as a conflict plot point. 😁

Haha so true on the iPhone, I'm sure my adventuring forebears would be embarrassed for me (I'm descended from mapmakers). Glad you made out of your harrowing experiences too!

Yikes! Been there. But not in Norway! Glad you made it back safely and thanks for cautionary tale!

Thank you! Be a bit better prepared than I was and you'll be grand. And I bet the Norwegian UT hiking app has better local intel than All Trails :)

Oh wow! I've had hikes like that too. Harrowing. And a little troubling to me as I realize how much I now rely on my phone while hiking! Glad you made it out. Could certainly relate to those disconcerting moments of panic. Like, "I know I'll make it out of here ... at least I think I will .... I'm just not exactly sure yet how that's going to happen!"

Ha, exactly! I knew I'd make it out...somehow...eventually but yes, also shocks me how phone reliant I am when hiking in new places!

Glad you made it out! As a kid, I visited a friend's house in Wisconsin, took a walk in the woods, and got lost. I knew I was so close to the houses yet couldn't seem to find them!
